LIKE THE BAD GUY! I FELT AS IF I WAS DOING WRONG TRYING TO GET MEDICAL


INFORMATION FOR MY HEALTH. WHEN I ASKED IF I WOULD BE ABLE TO TALK TO


MY FATHER SHE TOLD ME IT WOULDN'T BE GOOD FOR ME. HOW DOES SHE KNOW


WHAT I NEED? I HAD NEVER MET HER. I WANT CLOSURE. THAT TOTALLY UPSET ME.


THEY WERE ALSO CONCERNED ABOUT HIS REHABILITATION. ....WHAT THE HELL?


SHOULDN'T THEY BE CONCERNED ABOUT THE VICTIM FIRST? THESE RAPISTS HURT


OTHERS, POSSIBLY MAKING THEIR LIFE HELL FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES.


MAKING THEM LIVE WITH FEARS, AND NIGHTMARES. I DON'T THINK THEY SHOULD


COME FIRST! I THINK THE VICTIM SHOULD.


THE SECOND TIME I PHONED THE PRISON I GOT A VOICE MAIL PRESSED SO I


PRESSED 0 FOR AN EMERGENCY ,THEY THEN TRANSFERRED ME TO ANOTHER VOICE


MAIL. I AGAIN PRESSED 0 (FOR AN EMERGENCY) ONE MORE TIME AND I WAS


TRANSFERRED TO A GUARD HE ASKED IF IT WAS IMPORTANT, I SAID YES, HE


TOLD ME HE WOULD GET SOMEONE FOR ME IMMEDIATELY. AND I WAITED ON HOLD


FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND THEN AGAIN GOT VOICE MAIL. I LEFT A MESSAGE


ONCE AGAIN FOR THEM TO CALL ME.


THEN I CALLED THE VINE SYSTEM TALKED TO A PERSON AND FOUND OUT HE


COMES UP FOR PAROLE IN OCTOBER OF 08. THE VICTIM OFFENDER DIALOG WAS


REFERRED TO A BARB IN JANUARY 2007 AND NO ONE EVER CONTACTED ME AFTER


THAT. THEY NOW PROMISE THAT I WILL HEAR FROM THEM IN A WEEK OR SO.


VICTIMS RIGHTS NEED TO BE IN FORCED AND THEY NEED TO HAVE RESTITUTION


NO MATTER WHAT THE CRIME. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO REOPEN RESTITUTION IF


A NEW PROBLEM STARTS UP OR SOMETHING HAPPENS BECAUSE OF THE CRIME


LATER IN LIFE.


BECAUSE THERE WAS NO PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO ME OR MY BELONGINGS I DON'T


GET ANY RESTITUTION.


I WILL BE ON MEDICATION ALL OF MY LIFE, I AM DISABLED BECAUSE OF THIS,

ANOTHER CHILD INTO A WORLD LIKE THIS. NOW I WANT TO SO THEY CAN HELP

I am writing in regards to Norman Wilson DOC ID#: 00375807.


My name is Jenifer and I am the victim of the crime, and his


daughter, that he is currently serving time in Oshkosh Correctional


Institution for.


There are many different things that I need to say in this letter


so that you fully understand the impact this has had and still has on


me and my family.


But first, I need to request some form of closure in this matter


for me so that I am able to finally move on. I have requested this by


pone and through the V.I.N.E. (VICTIM )It has been almost 9 years.


This is the closure that I need very badly. My father has Hep C and is


dieing. Before he dies I need to be able to speak with him so that i


can move on. I do not care if it is a phone call, in a visit setting,


or however else you could imagine to arrange this meeting. I really


need to try to make him understand that he is still my father and I


love him but at the same time I hurt and cannot forgive him. I need to


tell him how this is effecting my family, my husband and daughter, and


myself. I NEED to ask him "why". The answers he gives matters and at


the same time doesn't matter to me at all. I just need an answer. I


need to be able to ask. I would write him but writing would only give


him time to think about his responses and fake emotion. I also don't


believe that option will be a good closure to me. I also think he


would be able to lie (better if he is or would lie). Hearing him or


seeing him will tell me his emotions on the matter. I need to see if I


can find at least some form of forgiveness for him so that I can


better my life, or realize I have gotten answers and they did not help


and then I can move on that way. I NEED this for MY well-being. It in


no way can be anymore harmful to me then what is has been without me


getting to say and ask what I need to. He has served half his sentence


now. I still have only begun mine.


I guess to understand what I go through I would like to explain my


problems. I sleep about 4 hours a night, if that, still total. I have


nightmares almost every night about what happened. I am on medication


that allows me to sleep with out as many nightmares and sleep that


long. I am afraid of people, I have problems with trust, I am


agoraphobic (fear of leaving a safe place). I panic if I cant handle a


situation (which can be as simple as,and has been, shopping), or over


nothing at all. I have flashbacks-I see him, smell him. breath him.


hear him-all as if it was happening again. No matter what else I have


tried this still happens. I have been on medications and still take


them, I see a councilor and a therapist and have since 1999. I go to


support meetings. None of these things gives me the answers I need.


I have spoken to my father but never really about what happened,


he said he was sorry right after he got into the prision system, other


then that it has been a lot of small talk---weather, his job, and his


Hep C. The letters have helped me deal a little better with the


extreme, horrible, hatred I used to have, now its a more tolerable


hate. I just want these things better. I know they will never go away


totally.


Incest and rape go back in my family as far as I can find (which


is only my grandparents as I no longer talk to that side of my family


because they believe that my father was with in his rights.) My


grandfather started mentioning having sex with me along with my father


the next time he came up. I thank the lord that I was able to tell on


my father, which was hard, before that happened. I believe this would


have happened to everyone in my family if I would not have stopped it


including my daughter. It happened to my older step-sisters and some


friends. I stopped the rapes before it continued to my little sister


or my daughter. Now I need my closure also.


I do not care if he sees the prision walls until he is dead or is


released tomorrow as long as I have my chance to be better first.

* Notification includes communication regarding changes in the


offender's status. For example, this can include notification of


parole interviews and decisions, release, escape and apprehension,


discharge to supervision, etc.


* Restitution includes assistance with questions and concerns


related to restitution. If you have not received any restitution


payments but believe that you are owed restitution from an offender


who is or has been under the supervision of the Wisconsin Department


of Corrections, you can submit an unclaimed restitution inquiry.


* Victim Impact Statements allow victims to provide a statement to


the Parole Commission Member for review prior to parole consideration.


* Participation in the Parole Process provides victims with the


opportunity to provide information to the Parole Commission at the


time the offender is considered for parole.


* Victim/Offender Conferencing allows victims, if they choose, to


speak to the offender in a safe setting with a neutral third party and


discuss the impact and circumstances of the crime. Victims have the


opportunity at this time to ask questions and to directly express to


the offender how the crime has affected them and/or their family.

How many pple really get all their victims rights?
that is horrible. i am so sorry for your situation. i think now that he's in prison, he probably has the legal right to refuse visitors. i believe you have to try to convince him to talk to you. i don't think you can force it. this is the type of thing sometimes called victim impact statement where judges listen to victims of crimes PRIOR to sentencing and it's generally done in front of the convicted criminal. the victim impact statement they discuss here is apparently only to a parol officer. good luck sweetheart...

all i wanted to say was criminal's do get better health care than US army veterans, or government workers (unless they are high up (congressional, senatorial, presidential)). It's a very sad situation.

Does going to University at a young age (I'm 13) sound like a good idea?

A few years ago, my parents bought me a PC, and I got bitten by the learning bug. I started by using a "hooky" version of Frontpage to design my own website, then learnt HTML from experimenting with the 'HTML' tab on Frontpage, then realising HTML doesn't do interactive, taught myself Perl, then finding out PHP did stuff with pictures too, switched to PHP.





Then one day, I got a magazine with a version of Visual Basic on the cover (it was called learning edition then, it's express edition now) and I started to write standalone programs - then I got a version of Delphi the same way, and switched to that, then a version of C++ builder.





In an online programming tutorial, I came across a word in an unfamiliar context, differentiate, and ended up teaching myself calculus. I also figured out in a school lesson that a non-right angled triangle could be split into two right angled triangles and worked out the cosine rule myself.

Does going to University at a young age (I'm 13) sound like a good idea?
Socially, it's going to be very tough if you move into a university environment so early, but I completely understand how necessary it is to stay intellectually challenged. Does your school offer dual enrollment courses where you can earn high school and uni credit? I'm 16 and have been taking classes at the uni down the street for a few yrs now. It's awesome to take the classes there while still being in the loop at my school. I also go on summer programs every year %26amp; earn credit.





Otherwise, is there a school just for gifted kids in your town? You should definitely apply if there is one. You'll be happier socially %26amp; academically in that type of environment. My K-8 was just for kids with an IQ of 145 or higher (which would be profoundly gifted +) %26amp; some of the kids there were web proteges as well. You'd probably rock the test. It was awesome going there because the teachers knew how to keep you challenged, no one felt like a freak for being so smart because we were all that smart!, %26amp; we had all the social benefits of all the other schools. I think you'd be really happy in that type of environment. You wouldn't be bored or feel frustrated, and you'd have a whole host of people to encourage and nurture your talents.





If there isn't one, consider a top ranked boarding school. There are many that will be able to keep you challenged. I think a lot of the top schools are actually more rigorous than many universities. My school actually has a lower rate of acceptance than Harvard! The tuition at many of the schools is extremely high (mine is around $30K just for day school), but little geniuses like you tend to get scholarships. Schools are honored to have students of your ability, and will most likely offer you a substantial scholarship or even a free ride.

I would also look into taking classes outside of school so you don't fall into ennui. I take guitar and violin lessons, dance %26amp; sing. Maybe you could enroll in web programming classes??

Reply:OH MY GOD! You're a genius! The decision of going to college so young is definitely a hard one. Think of it like this....you can finish college early and take a couple years off and travel! but you sound ready for college! also consider if you're able to afford it!
Reply:The only problem with going to university at such a young age is that you have nothing in common, maturity or socially, with the other students. They are dealing with relationships, with becoming adults, and trying to sort out their childhood from the rest of their life. You -- basically haven't had an adolescence. Some people would say that was a good thing,(!) but generally, you have to go through some sort of adolescent phase in order to mature, in order to integrate your learning with your emotional maturity.





Being academically talented is a tremendous gift, and if you are indeed that gifted, you belong in university. However, your parents are going to have to work extra hard to make sure that you have an opportunity to grow emotionally in a healthy way. I'm sure they are proud of your gifts, but life is more than gathering academic honors.

Reply:You have a lot to consider there and I think you need to think long and hard about it yourself. Maybe you won't like learning stuff you already know for the next 5 years but there is more to life than knowledge and intelligence. I've known some really intelligent people in my life so far just like you who could have probably done what you're thinking of doing. They may have been intelligent but they lacked in a lot of other fundamental skills like working with others and also communicating with others. They spent so much time building up their knowlegde that they didn't know how to interact with the world around them.





So just be careful that you don't do the same.
Reply:it sounds like you should do whatever is best for your family and yourself, i know it seems like you would be out of place and you would, but just think you'd be the only kid around who would be out of college before your old enough to drink. i think you should take the experience and not worry about your parents. being a parent i know that they are probabially more than happy to make any sacrafice they need to because we love our kids and we want what's best for them. i hope that helps and congrats hon.

Reply:well... some ppl have no idea at all do they? Yeah you can go to uni at 13 if your smart enough,and it sounds like you are. The problem with that is you will pretty much be a loner for a while (most of uni) but dealing with the older student will help you when it come to getting a job and stuff coz you will always be young for whatever job you do and some idiots will be cruel about it. But then again do you want to be bored sh!tless at school, when you already understand the lessons, it could make you disinterested in the work and waste your talent. Its a lot to think about, and talk to your parents about it too, and even some of your close friends. But i think that in the long run it would be beneficial to you to further expand your education as much as posible...

I need to develop a web based application based on:


- Microsoft's ASP.NET 2.0


- SQL Server 2005


- Programming language is VB.Net








Programs I used are:


- Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition


- Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio








Currently I need to do the LOGIN FUNCTION for the user but im not sure how to start. I studied C# in school but my internship company (currently) required me to code in VB.Net and for that I find it very confusing.








Description of what I have:


The main page has a UserID and Password.


- 2 textboxes (and 2 Required Field Validator)


- 1 Login button


- 1 label for Login Error (A login message will be shown if user failed to log in)


- Forget Password Link








The database has a table named User:


- Fields are UserID, Password, .............








*Note* User do not have to register. There is no registration form.

IMHO, your C# background is awesome and you shouldn't use that as an excuse now. You can do it. Take heart that VB.NET and Visual C#.NET are not really worlds apart since they share the same Base Class Library. Believe it or not, it will be easier for you to learn VB.NET with your C# background than it is for most VB6 developers to transition to VB.NET!

Having said that, most of those articles deal with complex forms authentication and role-based security, which is probably beyond what you need. You simply need to validate the user credentials against the db and then allow access (redirect, most likely) to other pages or not.





Let me ask you this: Do you have a good idea how you'd accomplish this in C#? If so, you may want to write out and post some C# pseudocode snippets and see if people can help you translate it to VB.NET. If nothing else, it will help you organize your thoughts.

Which Programing language should I start out with?

Hello, I was just looking online of the different versions of visual studio express editions Beta 2 for windows vista, because I want to start making my own games, and 3d applications. Maybe some apps that can run on the WPF. I’m new of all of this and I came across VB, C#, and C++. I really don't know the difference in between the three, and I don’t know which one will be the appropriate edition to start out with for a first time user, and be able to do the things I need when I learn it. And do I need this SQL? I know it says it’s a data base but I’m not exactly sure what that is, how it works, or what I would need it for, or if I need it at all. Any way I would greatly appreciate any help that anyone can give me to guide me in the right direction. Thank you very much.

SQL is not technically a programming language. Unless you are going to be a database analyst, there are only a few SQL scripts you'll need to know.





BTW, go ahead and get the Visual Studio Expression Web Beta. It's the best free tool you'll ever get your hands on to learn to program especially for the Web.





It has tutorials in it for all the stuff like HTML, XHTML, DHTML, it also has everything you will need to learn VB...and more.

Microsoft.NET Framework Installation Problem?

I just reinstalled windows due to viruses and I am trying to get everything working. I found out a couple days ago that I needed to have .Net framework install some visual studio programs from windows. I downloaded the installer thing from Microsofts web site, started it up, and it stopped installing when it hit this item called

I let it sit there all day long and it didn't do anything past this point. I checked the task manager and saw RegSvcs.exe so I thought what the heck and deleted it. The installation started running again. I thought everything was fine. I started up visual basic express to install it and it said Microsoft.Net framework improperly installed or somehting like that. I uninstalled what I had already installed, started the installation again and here I am, It's stuck in the same place with no error message. What is wrong and how can I fix this to make it work?

I've installed Microsoft.NET but didn't have this problem so I'll give you generic answers. First, boot clean - run MSCONFIG, note what is checked, and uncheck everything. Once .NET is installed, recheck the items in MSCONFIG.





Two, download a file and registry monitoring software and see what files/registry entries are being accessed.





Three, did you apply all MS patches to Windows?





Finally, rescan your PC for viruses. Use several of the online sites listed below to verify your virus software is working.


I've personally reinfected my PC when recovering from a virus, so it can happen.

I need a program that can read three characters and determine there order. So basically when it pulls up the screen I will be able to type in yellow and it will make it ellowy. It determined which letters come before the other and put them in alphabetical order. If you need more information let me know. Reply:I used XNA / C# for awhile, but that platform needs to come along with at least a small GUI wrapper, and a real sound engine (not this XACT crap). Now I use MDX 1.0 and C#, and it's pretty good for games. You won't be able to develop a game that needs something like C++ for performance by yourself (no offense, it just takes a lot of work).

C# and Java are semi-compiled languages that use a runtime engine. That will probably make them less practical for a "real" video game. (They're both great languages, though.)

I bought this game and everytime i click on the shortcut, it acts as if it's going to the game then a message pops up...

An assertion is an internal check in a program that verifies that assumptions the programmer made haven't been violated. In other words, you're looking at a bug.





From the error I would assume that the assertion checked that m_pstatsgui was non-null and was sorely disappointed. Probably because the creation of the window failed for some reason.





Since you don't have the source code there isn't much you can do about it other than try to reinstall, update the OS, update DirectX, check Google and chat with tech support.

Where do i start to make a compiler?
To build a compiler you need to design a syntax and semantic checker, and then a code generator. It is a very complex topic and cannnot be described in this forum. You may want to check ANTLR, which is a free utility that alllows you to generate parsers for specific languages by providing the BNF grammar of the language.

Reply:Making a compiler is pretty hard; I don't want to kill your dream, but as long as you can't formulate more specific questions on this topic, my guess is that you know so little at this point, that it's going to take you months if not years to acquire the skills to develop one.





First, you'll have to learn THOROUGHLY how to program in a language (know 'a lil' or 'a very tiny bit' isn't going to cut it). After that, you'll have to learn about parsing techniques and a lot of other compiler-related technologies.





You might want to try to start off writing an interpreter; that's a lot easier. The book in my source list may help you do that --and move on to compilers at a later stage. The book is one of the easier ones on the topic.

At the minimum, all you need is one of the Express IDEs (C#, VB.net or C++). It will include the .net framework. If you aren't developing for Vista, you don't need .net 3.0, .net 2.0 will work fine.
Reply:When you install Visual Studio .NET, it should install everything you need. If you are using the latest version you will need to be running an operating system with IIS installed though. This means XP Professional. If you don't have it you won't be able to use ASP.NET.

There are no good jobs in accounting right now. The courses that I am currently taking include Java, ASP.net, and Web design courses. There is a very good future in advanced web design. The more experience you have there the more successful you will probably be in the area of computers.

from my personal experience, twenty gigs is plenty, you will get all your updates and have plenty of room for you programs as well,


i personally use minimum of 50 gigs partition for windows xp.


i have big hard drives, i do this on all of my pcs, and then use bigger partitions for different files, i have one for music only . one for videos only and one for pictures and i have changed the drive letters to correspond ie drive V for video , drive M for music, and drive P for pictures , and drive D for documents





but this is the way i do it, you do not have to follow my way, but just use about 20 gigs for xp

I'm taking a programming class at my high school, and I'm pretty sure I found my future career. First semester, we learned QuickBasic, and in the second semester, we are learning Visual Basic. I really want to study some other languages like C#, C++, or Java, but I have a few questions:





1) Which language would be the best to learn on my own first?





2) There have to be other methods other than Microsoft Visual Studio for making programs. Are these called compilers? If not, what are they called? Which ones would you recommend that I use?





3) If I were to buy a book on Visual C# or Visual C++, would the free Express Editions still be able to carry out the tasks that the books will teach you?

The very EASIEST language to learn first is VB in the .NET framework.





You can actually down load a free copy of Visual Studio Express from Microsoft's website. And yes, they are complete. You can write any program in the Express editions that you could write in the more expensive purchased versions of Visual Studio.





The best books that I, personally, would recommend, are the series entitled "Teach Yourself --- in 21 Days" and "Teach Yourself --- in 24 Hours" - with 21 or 24 lessons (chapters) respectively. (You replace the "---" with the name of the programming language you want to learn.) These books are put out by SAMS, and any Barnes %26amp; Nobles will carry them.

Reply:Learn C/C++ Most languages are built off of what this language did. Then you can either move on to C# or Java.





There are other compliers but Microsoft is probably the biggest driving force behind teaching langagues and so thats why you use that product.


Java is done differently then through Microsoft because its more open source.


Borderland did have some C/C++ compliers but they just didn't compare to Microsoft.





Probably most things the any book would have on C++ or C# would work with the free edition. you might miss something things, but that would be more on Visual Studio then it is in learning C#.

Windows GUI C++ question?

I'm making a postfix calculator in C++ with a windows GUI. There isn't buttons for each number, just a text box where you type in your postfix expression and a result box that displays the result after pressing the calculate button.


I'm using Visual Studio 2008 express, and I've already made the form and buttons.





My question is, how am I going to read in the input from the input box character by character? This is my first foray into GUI programming so I'm kind of confused. Thanks in advance.

This depends on what you bind the "edit box". If you bind it to a string, then after a call to UpdateData() the string will be populated with the contents of the edit box. If you bind it to a CEdit, then you'll have to call CEdit::GetWindowText() to get your string.

To prevent this when running it graphically(by just clicking it), you usually would use a getchar thing or something or in c you would do a system("pause") on window.s

Assembly language program not working?

Assembly language program not working?
firstly the add before the L3 is never used as the preceding instruction is a jmp.





But your main problem is that you're comparing esi to ecx right at the start, and if esi%26gt;ecx then you jump to L2, otherwise you got to L5. esi starts at 0, and ecx at the size of the array, so it starts off less, so the first comparison fails and causes a jump to the end.

the two above don't know anything about DirectX, DirectX is Microsoft's product not Macromedia's, and whenever a programming language (like C++) is related, DirectX has no relationship with browser (perhaps they mean ActiveX, which is related heavily to both browser and programming).





Well, I don't know in C++, but I know a bit in VB. (if possible avoid using DirectX directly (perhaps by using MS's GDI++), DirectX's code is confusing enough to occupy half the code for simpler programs)

How to I create a link?

Im using Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition and would like to know how to set up a hyperlink on a windows form, I cant work out how to do it, can anyone help?

Information about proxys?

I don't have internet at home, and would like to download Visual C# 2005 Express Edition SP1. Unfortunatly, the library computer has some restrictions on it that cause about half of the things I want to download to randomly not work. The error messege says to "download to a different place" because "you're not allowed to change the .../temp folder." I was hoping that maybe a proxy would be able to get past this, since I can't go to the options to change where it downloads.


Question: Would a proxy get past this, and

No, besides that - if you don't have sufficient privileges to adjust IE settings you aren't going to be able to install anything. The error is that the file you want to download exceeds the maximum allowable size of the temporary internet files folder - which is were everything downloads until it's completely downloaded, then IE moves it to where you selected. A proxy is a way of connecting to the internet through an intermediary so your immediate ISP doesn't know what you're doing.
Reply:unfortunately not. Something that you can try to do is just buy a 512 MB flash drive for 10 dollars, and then you could download it. A proxy is for securing yourself on the internet, what it does is changes the header that is sent to a website when you visit it. a header has information like... where you live, what type of OS your using, what browser your using, your screen resolution, your ISP, and a couple less interesting things... your Ip address and other things. but anyway.. the reason you cant download to the computer at the library is for the purpose that someone with malicious intent doesnt download mal-ware to their computers
Reply:In this case a proxy would be a website that your computer goes thru to access websites instead of your computer requesting the site from your isp directly. You can bypass a firewall if not configured to block that site. The issue you have is that the library's network policy doesn't allow you to download the file to the /temp folder. You can try a different folder or directory, or you can try a flash drive to save it. At this point im guessing that they wont let you download anything to the computer unless you have an external device.

A proxy is a connection to another computer across the internet. It will help you bypass a firewall, hide your IP or allow you to surf the net anonymously.





The problem you're having sounds like a permissions issue. Apparently you're trying to write to a folder you don't have access to.





This may be fixable by simply changing the directory to the desktop. When you get the 'Save File As..." screen, just select to save it to your desktop instead of the temp folder.

Reply:No, that security has nothing to do with the actual downloading. It is set in Windows...you do not have access to download to that location. I would suggest having a friend download it for you and then burn it to a CD.
Reply:Using a proxy changes how you access the internet, not what happens on your computer. A proxy is most commonly used to avoid filters and such, (I.E. Accessing MySpace at school).
Reply:No, a proxy wouldn't get past it.





The problem is to do with what the computer will allow you to do, not with what the network will allow you to do.
Reply:I don't believe proxy's have anything to do with that, If the admin of the library computer doesnt want you to download stuff, your pretty much stuck. Proxys basically reroute how you access the informatoin, but either way the end result is going to hit whatever protection the local pc has on it.
